Gin. Knitting. Monkeys. What more could you ask for?!

13 November 2006

I Was *SO* excited

Saturday, I awoke BEFORE noon. Le Wee Monkey was in a mood, so I decided to take a day for myself. I started by going to the once-monthly Saturday SnB meeting at Farmers Market. Lovely group of ladies. This is a slightly more mature, conventional group than the Thursday nite group, but I still had a great time.

Afterward, I journeyed east(?)ward, in search of The Perfect Fit. Spurred on by this review, I took a drive to lovely downtown Glendora. Hey, it was a nice afternoon, I had the convertible. What more could I want?!

After a personal (REALLY personal!) fitting, I settled on two new undergarments. The first is strictly utilitarian, BUT IT WAS IN MY SIZE!!! No more going-up-a-band-size-to-go-up-a-cup-size for me!!! The second I bought because it's so purty.

Actually, prettier than the picture because it is in this beautiful, royal and navy blue color.

Which goes to show what happens when you pick style over function. NOT that I had a lot to choose from (three, to be precise). It never ceases to amaze me that despite the number of (naturally and enhanced) large-breasted women I know, there is an absolute dearth of well-made, attractive, comfortable bras for anyone over a C cup. Really. I don't even bother to walk into Victoria's Secret anymore. The smallest band size you can get for a cup size D or larger is 38 in most stores. WTF?!?! Here, in the world's capital of outrageous bodies and cosmetic surgery, we can't get a lousy D+ bra?!?!

Anyhoo, all excited, I put on the purty one this morning. And for the most part, I've loved it - it fits well. But DANG. What I would give for a nice, smooth microfiber right now. That way I could stop flashing my highbeams at everyone.

Good to know! How long did it take you to get to Glendora? Have you ever tried that custom shop on the south side of Olympic between Rexford and Doheny?
No matter where I go, I can't get a good fit!

Hey Boom-Boom -

I have tried the shop on Olympic. When I was preggers, I was like a 36J!!! But the same problem - nothing cute.

It only took me about an hour to get to Glendora (and I kinda got lost). And the street on which the shop is located is very lovely. All it's missing is a yarn store. . .

How pretty! Good for you for finding something that fits properly. I keep thinking I need to do that, having finally given up the nursing bras, but I'm not sure where to go.

A yarn store would make most streets better.

I had success at Nordstrom's, per Uccellina's advice. But it turns out they don't do demi-cups in a G. I am annoyed.

i need some good bras, but alas, it's not a priority right now.

someday, when i have money, my boobs will be happy again.

I second the motion for Nordstroms. After they cop a feel, they are more than gracious in fitting you with a brassiere. And yes, the bigger you are the less cute the bra, but I found some cute-ish ones that didn't look like Jane Russell cast offs. And we're talking about further down the alphabet for me...like F.

If you are bodacious you can find cute....that is, if you have Oprah's credit lines!
